Why I'm Booking More African Safaris Than Ever, and Why You Don't Have to Wait 10 Years for Yours

I'm booking more African safaris this year than at any other point in my career. And if there's one thing I want people to take from that, it's this: you don't have to wait 10 years for your first safari.

I say that because I've watched people do exactly that.

It's always "next year." After the promotion. After the kids are a little older. After they've saved a bit more, researched a bit more, felt a little more ready to actually go.

A Client Who Waited a Decade

I had a client like that. Kenya had been on her bucket list for over ten years. When I finally asked her what was actually holding her back, the answer surprised me. It wasn't the money. It wasn't even the flight time.

It was fear.

She'd read enough alarming stories online, secondhand accounts, worst-case scenarios, that she'd quietly convinced herself something could go wrong the moment she landed. A general sense that Africa was somehow riskier, more unpredictable, than anywhere else she'd traveled.

So we started talking it through, one detail at a time. Where she'd be staying. Who would be picking her up from the airport. What a completely normal day on safari would actually look like, the schedule, the guides, the safety measures already built into every part of the experience.

Turns out, most of what she was afraid of wasn't really a "thing" at all. It was just the unknown, and unknowns are almost always scarier in your head than they are in reality.

The Real Reason People Hesitate on Africa

In my experience, most people aren't hesitant because of Africa itself. They're hesitant because of whatever version of Africa they've built up in their imagination, one shaped by secondhand stories, outdated assumptions, or vague anxiety rather than anything they've actually confirmed.

Once that gap between imagination and reality closes, the hesitation usually closes with it.

Has This Been on Your List for Years?

If a safari has been sitting on your bucket list for a while now, I'd genuinely love to know what's actually stopping you. More often than not, it's a lot more solvable than people assume, and once we talk it through, most of what feels overwhelming turns out to be a series of small, manageable decisions.

I'm already booking safaris for June 2027. If this has been on your list forever, let's finally get it checked off.
